讲座简介

Large language models have changed the way that we do AI. In this talk we will explore why they have been so revolutionary, and how the field is now different from before. Large language models are different from past deep learning in several ways. First, large language models are likely to continue improving as we scale up compute and data. Second, large language models are general technologies can perform a range of tasks specified purely via instructions. Finally, they are capable of performing reasoning, a key feature of intelligence that has challenged past AI systems for decades. These ideas have changed the frontier of AI, including how companies operate and how AI researchers go about their careers. I’ll discuss how this affects my personal experience and how to navigate the future of this landscape.

Jason Wei
He currently works at OpenAI on ChatGPT. Previously, he was a senior research scientist at Google Brain, where he popularized chain-of-thought prompting, co-led the first efforts on instruction tuning, and wrote about emergence in large language models. Chain-of-thought prompting was presented by Google CEO Sundar Pichai at the Google I/O press event in 2022.
